The long awaited, fully electric, Porsche Mission R will be introduced to iRacing next week. iRacing and Porsche announced on Thursday, September 1, 2022, that the all-electric concept car will be available on the service in the next build for 2022 Season 4.
This marks to first time electrification comes to iRacing. The Porsche Mission R is designed to match with the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car in terms of performance. Electric cars will most certainly be a part of the future in auto racing and this is a preview of what’s to come.
Featuring more than 800 kilowatts of power from its dual electric motors, the Porsche Mission R accelerates from 0-60 mph (0-100 km per hour) in just under 2.5 seconds. The fast-charging battery can be recharged to 75% of its capacity in just 15 minutes in between races. Perhaps the most interesting feature is the self-contained monocoque-type driver cell gives drivers an opportunity to test in the virtual world as a simulator outside of the car.
This car will be available to purchase in 2022 Season 3 Week 13 in next week’s build in the Shiny New Shakedown series. In Season 4, the car will be featured in the fixed-setup Mission R Challenge.
